This little farm stand represents more than a place to purchase local goods, it tells the story of generations of hard work, craftsmanship, agriculture and family.
We purchased the property that is now Mahaffy Ranch in 2004 with a vision of raising our family in the country, honoring God, stewarding the land, and creating a place where people would always feel welcome.
Both Oregon State graduates, Ryan and I met after college through mutual friends. Ryan brought a background in forestry, construction, and land management, while I brought experience in sales, marketing and community relations.
The Mahaffy family’s roots in Allegany stretch back more than 100 years. Ryan grew up working alongside his uncle Bob on the Mahaffy Tree Farm, learning good stewardship and sustainable forestry. He learned his business sense, integrity and service from his father John Mahaffy, who spent his career in real estate. Today, Ryan manages Mahaffy Tree Farm and continues the family’s commitment to sustainable forestry.
When Ryan suggested starting a U-Pick Pumpkin Patch, I responded with, “You be the farmer, and I’ll bring the people here”. That simple agreement became the foundation of Mahaffy Ranch.
Our boys grew up helping with cattle, irrigation, haying, tractors, harvest, construction projects, and guest experiences, learning firsthand how to build a business from the ground up.
What started as a pumpkin patch has grown into sunflower festivals, Christmas trees, school field trips, weddings, live music, seasonal events, and now the Mahaffy Ranch Farm Stand.
Designed and hand-built by Ryan in Spring 2026, every piece of lumber in this farm stand was sourced from Mahaffy Tree Farm, grown right here in Allegany, and hand-milled on the property. The stand is filled with homemade baked goods, family recipes, seasonal produce, and products inspired by life on the ranch.
As a proud member of the Allegany Farm Stand Loop alongside GKO Ranch and Whimsy Creek Farm, we are honored to provide fresh, local, homemade, and homegrown products to our community.
